You have accepted the challenge of participating in our training programs our race – or any race for that matter. You are probably wondering… Where can I get the best gear, and what exactly do I need to do to prepare for training and each race?
There not an incorrect or correct answer to this question. A simple internet search will more provide differing opinions on what is truly needed. The most consistent information that you will find will be purchasing the right pair of shoes. The overall feel, cushion, and support of running or walking shoes is completely different than the feel of regular training shoes. Finding the correct shoe for your feet, your stride and your needs will help reduce the possibility of injuries, blisters and unneeded aches and pains. Be sure to try out some shoes and test them well before you arrive at the start line. Other items we suggest to go along with this is comfortable socks that are preferably not just plain cotton socks, comfortable clothing, and a way to carry water or energy fueling needs!
Where can you get all this stuff? We suggest checking locally owned stores first! Our friends at Ultimate Fit in Evansville have the knowledge to assist you in fitting for the shoe for your fit and have plenty of accessories to check out, too. They are our participants go-to whenever they are looking for new shoes or other items for training and races.
