When Lori Tenbarge arrived at the 2025 Evansville Half Marathon, she was surrounded by a sea of familiar faces.
Friends. Family. Members of her church community.
Many were wearing matching “Soles for Sam” shirts—a tribute to her husband, Sam, and the lasting impact he continues to have on the people who knew and loved him. What began as a simple idea to honor his memory became a powerful reminder of the importance of health, community, and making the most of the time we’re given.
Meet Amanda.
Long before she ever crossed a finish line in the Evansville Half Marathon, running had already become part of who she was. She first discovered it in middle school, inspired by her dad, and quickly fell in love with the simple freedom of being outside—just her, the road, and her thoughts.
Years later, after becoming a mom, she found her way back to running again. It became her space—time to breathe, to reset, and to clear her mind in the middle of a busy life.
