Race Day FAQs

START TIME: Race will begin promptly at 7:00 am CST.


RACE EXPO and PACKET PICK-UP: DoubleTree_by_Hilton_logo_2011Packet pick-up will be located at the Downtown Evansville DoubleTree by Hilton located at 601 Walnut Street.  
•  Thursday: 4:00 p.m. –  7:00 p.m.
•  
Friday: 10:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.
•  There will be no Race Day packet pick-up


BAG CHECK: Bag check will be available at the start from 5:15 a.m. until 6:45 a.m.  Bags will be available for pick up in the finish area.  You will need to show your bib number to claim your bag.  We cannot be responsible for lost or stolen items.  Bags are subject to inspection; please do not check valuables.


TIMING: Chip timing will be provided by The End Result Company. If you do not have a chip, your time will not be recordedYou must pick up your chip and race number at packet pick-up – not at the start line!


SPLIT TIMING: Timing pads for splits will be located at the 5K, 10K and 15K marks. Each mile will be marked with a mile marker sign.


RACE NUMBER: Pin your race number to the front of your shirt, plainly and visibly to race officials, drivers, photographers and spectators. All participants must wear an official race number.


HEALTH AND SAFETY: Drink fluids before, during and after the race. Stay hydrated! There will be 9 water stops along the course. Three of these stations will also offer Gatorade (mile 4 water stop, between mile 7 and 8 at the Signature School and mile 9 near Bayard Park). Traffic control will be provided by YMCA volunteers, the Evansville Police Department and R.E.A.C.T. However, please be advised that although volunteers along the course will deter traffic to the best of their ability, safety is ultimately your own responsibility. Watch for vehicles!


FIRST AID STATIONS: First aid will be provided by ProRehab. There will be first aid stations at mile 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 and 12.5 near the water stations. There will also be roving medics and ambulance support on the course. At the finish, the ProRehab tent will be available for participants. All aid workers will be wearing bright red shirts. If you see someone in danger, please CALL 911 or contact an aid worker.


PORTABLE TOILETS: Portable toilets will be located at the start and finish as well as seven locations on the course.


PACE TEAMS:  Do you need some extra motivation and support to reach your goal at the Evansville Half Marathon? Are you trying to get a personal best or achieve a specific race time? Stick with a Pace Team Leader during the race where you will be guided by marathoners who will help you reach your performance goals. CORRAL STARTS: Runners and walkers are responsible for placing themselves in the corral closest to the pace you plan to maintain for the race. Prior to the start, ropes will be raised between corrals. There will be a one minute hold between corrals. This is to ensure the safety of all athletes. If you have any questions as to where you should be at the start line, please ask one of the start line volunteers from German American Bank.


COURSE CLOSING:  The 13.1 mile course is primarily flat. No strollers, bicycles or pets are allowed on the course. The course will officially close after 4 hours 30 minutes (based on a 20-minute mile pace). Please be advised that portions of the course will remain open to traffic.


POST RACE CELEBRATION: After the race join fellow participants, families and friends for food, fun and fellowship on the riverfront. Participants will find water, Gatorade, fruit and snacks to help them replenish.


HALF MARATHON AWARDS: Awards will be provided to the top ten men and top ten women finishers. (Please note:  Top ten finishers awards will be based on gun time.)

Age group awards (after removing the top ten) will be given to the top four age division winners.


SERIES AWARDS: Series awards are for those athletes that participate in the 10K, 15K, and the Evansville Half Marathon. They will be provided for the top three male and female age division winners. As age groups are filled, awards will be available at the event stage near the finish line.
